This course is for adults working with children aged 3 to 4 years. It is the second of the three Level 1 courses for the age group:
Why This Course Matters
At this age, the child learns through the senses — by seeing, touching, hearing, smelling, tasting, moving, and exploring the world directly.
The senses are the gateways to intelligence. Through the senses, the child receives impressions from the environment, and these impressions gradually become knowledge and understanding.
Sensorial work helps the child organise these impressions. It brings clarity out of confusion, order out of variety, and understanding out of experience.
Through these activities, the child refines the senses, develops concentration, and learns to observe, compare, and recognise differences more clearly. In this process, the hand and the mind work together.
How to Use This Course
Sensorial education is one of the essential foundations of Montessori work. It prepares the child indirectly for language, mathematics, writing, reading, and a deeper understanding of the world.
How This Course Is Structured
This course has two parts:
Part A - Theory
Part B - Practical
Theory
This part helps you understand the Montessori principles, psychology, and the theory behind sensorial activities — what they are, why they are given, and how they support development.
Practical
This part helps you learn how to present each material with clarity, order, and precision. It includes guidelines, presentation videos, presentation summaries, quizzes, and partner observation forms.
A Note About Practice
This is not a watch-and-forget course. Montessori must be practised.Please practise the presentations, preferably with a partner, until your movements become natural, exact, and confident.
